Reliability Availability and Maintainability (RAM) Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Allied Technologies and Consulting is seeking a RAM Engineer Support who should have strong engineering, analytical and problem-solving skills. The RAM Engineer should be able to work collaboratively in teams, adaptable and a proactive problem solver. This hybrid position is at Fort Detrick, MD requiring 3 to 5 days per week in the office. The current customer base is the Warfighter Expeditionary Medicine and Treatment (WEMT) Program Management Office (PMO) for Defense Health Agency (DHA) Operational Medicine (OPMED).

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The professional and dynamic RAM Engineer will assist with a variety of products and programs and perform the following duties:

Shall participate actively on assigned Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), providing the reliability, availability, maintainability (RAM) and sustainment subject matter expertise needed to fulfill the critical planning and execution requirements that contribute to program success.

Assist the IPTs with the RAM requirement development, RAM test and evaluation and RAM impact to lifecycle sustainment.

Facilitate milestone planning by preparing, reviewing, and updating technical briefing materials, documentation, and program schedules relevant to product sustainment.

Perform engineering analyses with full understanding of the interrelationships of the sustainment metrics and operational scenarios. This includes supporting the development of sustainment strategies and the life cycle cost estimate.

Review requirement documents (Initial Capabilities Document (ICD)/Draft CDD/CDD/CPD), CONOPs, Sustainment and Maintenance Concept and any other documentation that defines the requirements for the system and how it will be operated and sustained in the field to determine parameters for RAM analysis.

Conduct a RAM assessment through modeling and simulation before each programmatic and technical event to estimate the RAM levels of performance.

Provide data for reporting the status of RAM objectives and/or thresholds as part of the formal design review process, during program support reviews, during systems engineering technical reviews, post-fielding reviews or any other relevant contractual reviews. This may include generating, contributing to, and/or interpreting statistical analyses of RAM data.

Review developmental and operational test plans, supporting the Project Manager and IPT through the RAM test and evaluation process.

Have the ability to successfully explain the subject, noting impacts of shifting variables with personnel at various echelons through the use of effective interpersonal and communication skills in addition to managing numerous efforts and effectively prioritizing and multi-tasking requirements.

Strong written and verbal skills, have the ability to work independently, as well as apply experience in project management, engineering management, DoD acquisition or other comparable experience to lead projects or tasks.

Capability to utilize MS Office, to include MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Word, at an intermediate to advanced level. Ability to apply knowledge of the DoD 5000 series, DoDI 5000.91, AR 702-19 to product development, production, fielding, and sustainment.

Travel up to 20 percent of the time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor’s Degree in related field, such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering with additional coursework or certifications specifically focused on RAM.

10+ years of relevant experience with at least 5+ years of RAM experience.

Must possess strong communications skills including verbal, written and interpersonal.

Must possess strong attention to detail, organizational and efficient time-management skills.

Knowledge with FIDES, ECSS and safety standards.

Knowledge and experience with RAMS and statistics.

Ability to critically analyze and interrogate data.

Must be proficient with MS suites including Excel, Word, SharePoint.

US Citizen 

Must be able to pass background and drug testing
