JOB DESCRIPTION:
Allied Technologies and Consulting (ATC) is recruiting for a Pharmaceutical Logistics Specialist/Subject Matter Expert (SME) to assist our government customer with supporting the modernization, sustainment, and fielding phases of the acquisition life cycle for supplies, equipment, and systems used in field military clinical, pharmacy and laboratory environments. The position is based in Frederick, MD and requires at least 3 days per week working on-site in an office setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pharmaceutical Logistics Specialist/SME will perform the following duties:
Provide senior level subject matter pharmacy expertise applying a practical understanding of pharmaceutics, pharmacology, toxicology, therapeutics, drug administration & monitoring, medication management and medication safety to identify pharmaceuticals that are suitable material solutions to satisfy US Army forward deployed capability requirements and are appropriate to the Role(s) of Care assigned.
Apply clinical decision-making and knowledge to provide recommendations regarding equivalent medical, therapeutic dietary and pharmaceutical products. Pharmaceuticals include human and veterinary use medications, biologics and human and veterinary use vaccines.
Support the standardization of pharmaceuticals across US Army medical deployment assemblages by adopting whenever suitable and feasible NSNs/NDCs already in use in USA deployment assemblages and/or pharmaceuticals recommended by the Joint Deployment Formulary and/or Joint Trauma System Clinical Guidelines.
Demonstrate a solid working knowledge of the Medical Roles of Care 1-3 mission, capabilities and limitations.
Provide a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical supply chain to include procurement, distribution, inventory management, transportation, and storage. Emphasis to be placed on supporting combat operations requirements in forward deployed austere environments and stability and support operations.
Stay abreast of the pharmacy, medicine, and healthcare marketplace to provide recommendations of new technologies and capabilities, conduct market research into available products and vendors.
Participate in working groups by providing expert advice to develop plans and protocols for clinical studies and testing plans, analysis of alternatives, business case assessments, and acquisition strategies.
Evaluate the quality systems of vendors, laboratories, and manufacturers.
Maintain an in-depth understanding of operational requirements and clinical treatment guidelines and best practices.
Access Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Health Agency, US Army and commercial websites to conduct research and evaluation of pharmaceuticals, medical material and medical equipment to maintain Bill of Material (set/kits/outfits) readiness and sustainment of assigned items.
Assist with development of capability documents, acquisition strategies, and logistical support requirements, adhering to the corresponding DoD 5000 series acquisition process.
Prepare accurate and timely documentation such as white papers, information papers, after action reports, executive summaries, briefings, and decision memorandums.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree required in a related field (biology, chemistry, microbiology, science/technology, or other technical); Master’s degree or PharmD desired. Experience as military pharmacy technician/pharmacist desired. Deployment experience in forward deployed austere military medical setting desired.
Excellent communications, writing, organizational and project management skills.
Microsoft Sharepoint routinely used; MS Project experience helpful.
Experience, knowledge and the ability to execute using Microsoft Office Suite, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as Microsoft Outlook.
At least 2-3 years’ experience in Federal contracting, government or military environment is preferred.
Occasional travel may be required

Must be able to pass background and drug testing.
